Life is anything but simple right now, but we’re going to continue to push forward with Melissa Weikart‘s second EP, Easy. A follow-up to her 2022 debut LP, Easy is best when this skilled keyboardist allows the music to take the lead.
Filled with songs that never startle the mind, Easy is just that – an easygoing experience. With that, the title track sets the tone for what’s to come as Melissa Weikart instantly proves her vocal abilities are there with simple yet satisfying moments in that department in this piano-laced moment. “Easy” started in one place, but ended moodier than I expected, but then it all made sense as the EP continued with the ‘70s-sounding ways of “Running in The Rain” and the evocative “Better When You Wait.” By the end, “One Day” helps the record come full circle as its vibes match where Easy kicked off.
This Parisian-born singer-songwriter made her way to Boston before returning to France a handful of years ago. That is where she played her last run of shows in the fall/winter of 2024 ahead of the January 2025 release of her latest EP, Easy. Those who fancy piano-driven music with avant-pop stylings will appreciate what Melissa Weikart is dishing out as she makes life a little easier.
